Methods and routines for the collection, evaluation, and processing of published physical property data into handbook form are described in detail. Storage and retrieval of information is accomplished by the use of edge-notched, handsorted punched cards which are coded for the following indexes: author, year of publication, language, material, property, temperature range, test method, and accession number. A materials index is included that serves to classify materials in the categories of elements, alloys, ceramics, cermets, intermetallics, polymerics, and composites.
