Abstract:
The results of a study of the potentials of organoboron compounds for imparting durable fir-resistant properties to cotton fabrics are discussed. Initial flame resistance was obtained when desized and scoured cotton fabric was treated with the reaction product of boron trifluoride and aniline; when aminocellulose was treated with B-trichloroborazole; and when alkali cellulose was treated with some boron halides. None of the treated fabrics were flame resistant after laundering.
