Abstract:
A concept for a complete emergency life sustaining system for use during failure of the normal pressurization system in a spacecraft is advanced. The system includes four components: (1) an astronauts uniform with a built in mechanical pressurization system, (2) a pressure-breathing demand-regulator, (3) an automatically actuated system of solid chemical oxygen candles, and (4) a one-man compression tube. This system has been partially fabricated and appears worthy of further development.
