Abstract:
Accurate nomographs for designing conventional skin-stringer and honeycomb sandwich construction to meet sonic fatigue requirements are presented. The nomographs were derived from the results of sonic fatigue tests of 30 skin-stringer and 30 honeycomb sandwich designs, totaling 60 test specimens for each design. Emphasis is also placed on assessing the effect of structural curvature on sonic fatigue and structural response. Nomographs for determining the curvature effects are included.
