Abstract:
A survey is presented of recent progress in the discovery and development of new rocket propellant ingredients. The evolution of new oxidizer species is described beginning with pure theoretical studies and proceeding through synthesis and property characterization to propellant testing. Promising fuel ingredients and binder materials are identified and the importance of evaluating all compounds against suitable stability criteria is indicated.
